Number Theory: In Context and Interactive

If you are using (or considering using) this text for a course or independent study, please let me know. Please do contact me (link on the left) with questions as well.

NEW EDITION POSTED JUNE 26TH, 2024. This is a minor errata update; you can access it now at June 2024 edition. There is also a PRINT VERSION AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE. All numbering corresponds with the online edition; page numbers may differ by one, as they correspond to the June 2023 edition.

There are two known, very minor errata in the new edition.

These minor update editions has the same links, same content, same chapter summaries as the July 2021 edition. Some new images and new section on combinatorial proofs of famous congruences were added in the January 2021 edition. See download page for two-sided and one-sided pdf options as well - great for printing!

January 2020 edition may still be accessed for continuity at this link; some errata crept in. You may continue to use the much previous edition at this link, but keep in mind its Sage syntax is not up-to-date; see its brief errata list.

This page lists information on some other courses that have used Number Theory: In Context and Interactive. Based on server logs and likely repeat adoptions, I estimate this is one-half to two-thirds of the actual adoptions since the end of the COVID lockdown.

Please let me know if you have adopted the text! Such information helps other consider using open textbooks, as well as being useful to funding agencies supporting software and training for making the process of creating such texts easier for faculty.
